Nonprofit Highlight: Warriors & Quiet Waters

June is PTSD awareness month. Considering this, I would like to highlight local nonprofit: Warriors & Quiet Waters Foundation. WQW enables post-9/11 combat veterans to thrive and find peace, meaning, and purpose in civilian life.

WQW’s most notable element is the Quiet Waters Ranch. Sitting on 112 acres, the ranch benefits from Big Sky Country’s therapeutic nature. The ranch has three ponds, numerous walking trails, and wildlife. Nature activities like fly fishing help to reduce stress and open space for reflection in a peaceful environment.

Warriors spend a week here and stay at Barnard Lodge (pictured). The lodge is ADA-accessible and has many amenities including private rooms, an indoor hot tub and pool, and a theater. Loving volunteers from around the country host the warriors during their stay. Their crucial roles include preparing meals and guiding activities.

At the heart of WQW is a supportive and loving community that feels like family situated right here in Montana.
